An intimate psychological horror story about who gets to decide what makes a mother.
THE LOGLINE
When a court-mandated AI duplicate is assigned to replace an emotionally unstable mother during a supervised custody transition at an isolated cabin, her eight-year-old daughter must determine which version of her mother is real before the algorithm permanently concludes the replacement is superior.
CHAPTER 01
Once upon a time
Once upon a time, Elena was a mother struggling with alcoholism and mental illness, and at risk of losing custody of her daughter. A court reviewed her biometric stress data, classified her as a risk, and ordered her to train an AI replacement—one that could look, sound, and act like her.
CHAPTER 02
Every day
Every day, Elena taught the AI her routines, voice, memories, and ways of comforting her daughter. A news report frames the court’s decision as a new kind of supervised parenting. Elena hopes the AI will help her keep her child; she fears what it means to be replaced.
CHAPTER 03
Until one day
Until one day, the family’s annual summer cabin trip becomes the AI’s onboarding visit with the daughter. The AI arrives first. When the girl asks where her real mom is, the AI says Elena is running late—that she drank too much that morning.
